Need Some Ideas
I am looking ahead to our trip to Arkansas in 2 weeks. So I am needing some creative ideas to keep a 1 year old and a 5 year old entertained on an airplane. Mainly Jacob cause Kody will probably read, watch a movie or play video games. Mr. Jacob the wiggle wart is going to make this trip fun. We were able to break up the traveling a little bit, but it is still going to be long. We have a 4 hour flight then we are staying overnight and then we have a 5 hour flight followed by a 4-5 hour drive the next day. It has been a while since I have traveled so far with a little one, but thank goodness Garrett is going this time and I have an extra set of hands. So if you have any tips or tricks pass them my way. They would be greatly appreciated and help me keep my sanity or what is left of my sanity!!!

My sister-in-law did something to the effect that she wrapped up alot of little toys and snacks. So that when my niece got bored she picked a gift to unwrap (or it might be easier to just give him one to open). That way she would play with that toy for a while and not be distracted or overwhelmed by a bag of treats and toys.
I tried making my kids a bag of games and toys to have on a long trip, but in the first hour they emptied the bag without really playing with them. Next time I'm going to use her idea. Also I've hear of doping your kids up for airplane rides, but I've been too scared to try. If you're not stressed and having a good time, it rubs off on the kids.
Derick and I played Yahtzee on our trip when we had a long layover, but I don't think that will work too well for ya! wish we could help ya, but we won't be in the position for quite a while!
hmmm. That's a tough one. I vote for drugs. For all. Good luck and have a great vacation!
My Jake enjoyed looking at magazines, any kind. We would look at the page and point things out, then go to a new one, over and over again. I also like to go get the marker sets that only write on the special paper. Get a few new quite toys to give at different times. Have lots of little snacks! Makes a huge difference! And I have given some tylonal and benadryl, but make sure that they don't make him hyper instead of calm!
During your layovers let him run as much as possible! Go for lots of walks and some airports have little kids play areas. Keep him up and going and then he will want to rest on the plane!
Good luck! I have done a lot of plane travel and it is never easy with little ones!
