First Day of 2nd Grade

Yeah for the first day of school! Kody started 2nd grade today and absolutely loves his new school. We went to his schools open house last night, checked out the huge school and met his teacher. This year he has a male teacher, Mr. Springsteen, which he is super excited about. I am hoping that this change will be good and what we need. Hopefully it will be better than last year!

I took him to school this morning and could tell that he was a little nervous. I was helping him unload his backpack and notice that his hands were shaking. I asked him if he was okay and he said "Mom, I've got this. I'm going to have a great day." So hesitantly I left him, my seven year old all alone in a big new school, full of strangers and let me tell you it was so hard. Isn't it supposed to get easier the older they get?

After our very trying year last year I have been praying that he would have a better experience here and I don't think I have been so nervous all day or prayed so hard as I did today. So 3:00 finally came and I see him coming toward me with the biggest grin on his face. I asked him how it was and he said "It was awesome!" Thank goodness! I am so relieved. He made friends, said his teacher is cool, was even sad that they only had a book to read for homework and he can't wait till tomorrow. So the first day was a success, now we just have to hope that the "awesomeness" will continue for the whole year!!!

The nervousness showing just a little bit

Sitting in his desk in his classroom putting on his I can do this face!

It was an AWESOME day and the smile says it all!!!

Yay!!! I am so glad! I don't know what happened last year, but I do know that recovering and reattempting school like that can be hard. Hoping for a good year for you all, too!

What a relief. I hate having to let them grown up without help from me. I'm glad that Kody had such an awesome day!! Some of my favorite teachers were males, they are just cool.

Oh good! I hope it works out. I would be so nervous that looks like a huge school! I think a male teacher will help out. Good luck.
