The Fruits of Our Labor

We have been trying our hand at gardening the last few summers and haven't had huge success. Thanks to the wonderful weather we have had this year we have finally succeeded. It has been so much fun working together as a family in our garden and we are definitely enjoying the benefits of our hard work. We didn't do a lot of veggies. Just some green beans, squash, lettuce, carrots and beets. They are so yummy.

But our berries are another story. At our previous house we had a huge raspberry patch and when we moved we took about 4 stalks with us. We weren't sure that they would make it, but finally this year our efforts paid off. Our berry plants went crazy out of control and we are definitely benefiting from them. We have a huge raspberry patch, of course strawberries and even blueberries. I haven't had time to make jam, so our freezer is full of fruit waiting for me to get busy. Sorry you have to come visit for me to share :o)

The boys love to check the garden with me. Kody is a very big helper and it has been so fun watching him get excited as the veggies and fruit start growing. Jacob's favorite is picking the strawberries (the "Ba-berries"). He would pick all of them including the green ones if we would let him. He loves to eat the raspberries, but will not pick them cause of the prickly bush. So our garden has been a very fun activity for our family and on top of that a great learning experience. There is nothing better than home grown veggie and fruit!

How fun! I am so jealous of your garden! Our little one didn't produce ANYTHING this year thanks to the birds!

Yeah for your Green Thumbs! Blueberries too?! I don't even know how those grow and I'm the Certified plant NERD. It's definitely fun watching your work produce. Good luck and save some 'Ba-berries' for me! :)
